Sandvik is strengthening its ground support portfolio with end-to-end resin bolting solutions aimed at improving safety, productivity and consistency in underground mining operations.
The integrated offering combines drilling and bolting equipment, resin technologies, chemical products and a comprehensive range of bolts into a single solution. By bringing these elements together, Sandvik aims to simplify operations and help mines achieve more reliable ground support results.
The approach includes Sandvik underground drill rigs, pumpable resin systems, automated resin capsule injection technology and a broad portfolio of ground support products, designed to work together throughout the bolting process.
“By integrating equipment, consumables and application expertise into one solution, we can help our customers achieve safer and more efficient ground support operations,” said Thomas Vallant, President of the Ground Support Division at Sandvik. “The close collaboration between our teams across equipment, chemicals, and rock reinforcement has been key to developing a solution that delivers value throughout the entire process.”
Sandvik’s resin bolting portfolio includes pumpable resin systems for the DD422i/iE Dual Controls development drills and DS412i/iE and DS512i i-series rock bolters. The sealed systems eliminate the need for manual chemical handling and integrate directly with the equipment’s control interface. Operators can manage the resin mixing, injection and curing processes from inside the cabin, improving operational control and consistency.
Another key element is the Automatic Resin Capsules Injection (ARI) system for i-series bolting rigs. The technology enables ground-level loading and automated capsule installation, reducing manual intervention while allowing operators to carry out other tasks during the installation process. This can help shorten cycle times while reducing exposure to potentially hazardous working conditions.
The integrated solutions are supported by a broad portfolio of chemical products and reinforcement systems. These include the Mineral Bolt resin range, with different curing times to accommodate varying ground conditions, and Fasloc® resin capsules manufactured across several regions to meet local demand.
Sandvik also offers hollow, self-drilling, solid rebar and dynamic bolts, allowing customers to select reinforcement products suited to their specific operational requirements.
By combining automation with integrated equipment and consumables, the solution is designed to improve installation consistency while supporting more efficient bolting cycles. High onboard resin capacities and adjustable curing times further contribute to productivity underground.
“We are very pleased that these solutions have already generated great interest among our customers, and we have already conducted our first successful tests,” said Anssi Kouhia, Product Manager at Sandvik. “The feedback has been highly positive as the system addresses real operational challenges. By bringing together proven technologies into one integrated offering, we can help customers improve safety, efficiency, and overall performance underground.”
As mining companies increasingly adopt automation and safer operating methods, integrated resin bolting solutions are expected to play a growing role in underground ground support. Sandvik’s approach is focused on helping mines enhance operational performance while maintaining high standards of safety and reliability.
