The construction sector in Africa and the Middle East is undergoing deep transformation. Rapid urbanization, the expansion of mining, and investment in new energy and transportation infrastructure are generating a growing demand for faster, more durable, and sustainable construction solutions.
In this context, precast concrete industrialization has established itself as an effective response to builders’ main challenges: meeting tight deadlines, reducing costs, optimizing resources, and ensuring quality standards in demanding climate and logistics environments.
Challenges of the regional market
- Industrial: Mining and logistics expansion requires warehouses, workshops, retaining walls, and auxiliary structures capable of being commissioned in a short timeframe.
- Energy: The transition to renewable energy and the reinforcement of electrical grids require transformer stations, technical stations, and structural solutions that are safe and quick to install.
- Civil engineering: Roads, bridges, and hydraulic works require high-capacity structural elements that ensure durability in extreme climates and with increasing mobility needs.
Moldtech: an international benchmark from Spain
In this context, Moldtech has established itself as an international leader in precast concrete solutions, with more than two decades of experience and over 500 projects executed around the world. From its headquarters in Seville, the Spanish company designs, manufactures, and installs equipment that allows local producers to industrialize their construction processes.
The ability to work simultaneously on different continents is one of its unique strengths, adapting to highly diverse markets: from large civil engineering infrastructures to social housing programs and industrial facilities.
Several notable projects in Africa and the Middle East
Moldtech’s presence in Africa is extensive and well-established, with multiple projects in different countries. Morocco occupies a central place among them, with high-impact references:
- Power plant in Casablanca: supply of tilting tables, fixed tables, auxiliary equipment, and specific moulds for the manufacture of transformer substation components.
- Industrial and airport sector in Rabat: solutions with high-capacity self-reacting moulds, complemented by vibration systems and hydraulic relaxation cylinders.
- Local precast producer: production of box culverts with MT20 moulds and large-format ducts (900×900 mm and 1200×1200 mm), along with precast covers for comprehensive drainage systems.
- Precasters for housing and industry: production lines for prestressed beams with the capacity up to 600 tons for residential and industrial projects.
- National railway infrastructure: participation in the construction of diaphragm walls and high-strength structural elements for the country’s high-speed line.
In addition, Moldtech has developed projects in other countries in the region, such as:
- Guinea: Supply of moulds and tables for mining infrastructure, including MT20 for box culverts and 3-sided box culverts.
- Nigeria: 400 T prestressing bench for the production of beams up to 52 m long.
- Egypt: Complete plant for the production of Box girders for the new Alexandria metro, with a prestressing capacity of up to 1,900 T.
These projects represent just a fraction of Moldtech’s extensive activity in Africa and the Middle East, consolidating its role as a strategic partner in regional industrialization.
Innovation adapted to the needs of the African and Middle Eastern markets
Moldtech offers a comprehensive portfolio of solutions that address the challenges of construction in sectors such as mining, energy, and civil engineering including:
- High-capacity prestressing benches, with casting beds of up to 52.5 m, for the production of beams and structural elements for transport and industrial infrastructure.
- Tilting and fixed tables, designed to manufacture precast concrete panels with various thicknesses, used in residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
- 3D moulds for electrical transformer sheds and housing modules, providing rapid deployment and reliability in energy and social housing projects.
- Box culverts, channel moulds, and drainage systems, essential for water management in mines and large-scale civil works.
- Battery moulds and double walls, which increase productivity and optimize space use in the manufacture of structural walls.
- Advanced auxiliary equipment such as vibration systems, hydraulic relaxation, and magnetic formwork, which increase quality and reduce production times in precast plants.
Beyond supplying equipment, Moldtech designs and installs complete turnkey plants, including production testing and training of local personnel, ensuring immediate start-up tailored to the needs of each market.
A vision aligned with the region
These solutions respond to the priorities outlined in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, which place industrialization and sustainable infrastructure at the heart of their development strategies.
“Africa and the Middle East are strategic regions for Moldtech. We share with builders the need for fast, reliable, and sustainable solutions, and we believe that precast concrete is key to meeting today’s challenges. We will showcase these solutions at ICCX Casablanca 2025 and look forward to engaging with partners and clients across the region,” says Gema Granados, Marketing Director of Moldtech.
