Epiroc Secures $12 Million Order from Asante Gold for Chirano Mine in Ghana

Mining and infrastructure productivity partner Epiroc has secured a significant order for advanced mining equipment and digital solutions from Asante Gold Corporation, a Canadian mining company operating the Chirano gold mine in southwestern Ghana.

The order, valued at approximately SEK 115 million (US$12 million), includes a fleet of underground mining trucks, loaders, face drilling rigs, and production drilling rigs designed to enhance productivity and safety at Chirano — a combined open-pit and underground operation.

As part of the deal, Asante Gold will also deploy Epiroc’s digital situational awareness system, which provides near real-time insights into machine performance, including tonnage moved, drilling progress, and cycle times. The system is expected to significantly improve operational efficiency and safety through enhanced production monitoring.

Epiroc’s delivery includes the Minetruck MT65 S hauler, Scooptram ST18 S loader, Boomer M20 S face drilling rig, and Simba E70 S production drilling rig — all part of the company’s Smart series, meaning they are automation-ready for future digital integration.

Equipment delivery has already begun and will continue over the coming months. Epiroc will also provide tools, spare parts, and comprehensive service support.

“We are very pleased to support Asante Gold with our state-of-the-art loaders, trucks, and drilling rigs,” said Helena Hedblom, Epiroc President and CEO. “The digital situational awareness solution will enhance both productivity and safety through improved production monitoring.”

Asante Gold President and CEO Dave Anthony added, “This partnership with Epiroc represents a major step in upgrading our operations and increasing gold production at Chirano. Epiroc’s advanced technology and reliability will help unlock the mine’s full potential and create lasting value for years to come.”

The collaboration marks a milestone in Asante Gold’s modernization strategy and underscores Epiroc’s growing footprint in West Africa’s mining equipment market.
