RBL-REI: ENGINEERING AND MANUFACTURING FOR BULK MATERIAL HANDLING

From project concept to installation

For more than 40 years, RBL-REI has been engineering and manufacturing equipment and complete systems for bulk material handling.

Working with mining companies, industrial clients, EPC contractors and engineering partners, RBL-REI provides solutions adapted to the specific requirements of each project — from the first engineering studies through manufacturing, delivery and installation supervision.

OVERLAND CONVEYORS: ENGINEERED FOR THE PROJECT

With more than 700 km of overland conveyors engineered worldwide, RBL-REI has developed extensive expertise in long-distance conveying.

Our systems are designed to accommodate the specific conditions of each site: long distances, high capacities, elevation changes, curved routes and complex crossings.

From 300 to 20,000 t/h
Installed power above 10 MW
Horizontal curve radii down to 250 m

Every project is different. Our engineering approach starts with understanding the route, the material to be transported and the operating requirements in order to develop the most appropriate conveying solution.

MORE THAN A CONVEYOR

An overland conveyor is part of a complete material-handling system.

RBL-REI can support projects through the different stages of execution:

Engineering & Design
Mechanical, structural, electrical and automation engineering, calculations and technical studies.

Procurement & Manufacturing
Equipment procurement and fabrication through RBL-REI and its manufacturing facilities.

Delivery & Installation Supervision
Logistics, site coordination and supervision of installation and commissioning.

This integrated approach enables RBL-REI to work directly with the project team and manage the interfaces between engineering, equipment supply and site execution.

BUILT AROUND REAL PROJECTS

From mining and quarrying to ports, infrastructure and industrial applications, RBL-REI has delivered material-handling solutions in demanding environments worldwide.

Long-distance conveyors can cross roads, railways and rivers, negotiate complex terrain and integrate into existing or new industrial facilities.

The objective is simple:

Move bulk materials reliably, efficiently and safely — with a solution engineered for the project.

WORK WITH US FROM THE START

For an EPC contractor developing a project, an engineering consultant evaluating alternatives or an owner defining a new facility, involving the conveying specialist early can make a significant difference.

RBL-REI brings together engineering expertise, manufacturing capability and field experience to develop and deliver the solution with innovation.

Have a project involving long-distance conveying or bulk material handling?

Suspended conveyors

RBL-REI also develops conveying solutions for challenging terrain, where conventional conveyor routes may require complex crossings. Suspended overland conveyors provide an efficient solution while preserving the natural landscape.

One example is a 5 km overland conveyor, rated at 1,100 t/h, transporting limestone from a quarry to a cement plant. The route follows the natural terrain and includes a 240 m-span suspended bridge, allowing the conveyor to cross a major natural obstacle without interrupting the conveying line.

Designed to operate in extreme winter conditions, down to –38°C and heavy snow, the system ensures continuous and reliable material transport while minimizing the impact on the surrounding environment.

Upper and lower strands, both carrying material

Two conveyors combined into one — with material transported in both directions.

The RBL-REI OLC range also includes highly economical and technically advanced solutions, such as a 6.8 km Curvoduc™ designed and supplied in China to connect a port with a nearby cement works.

The Curvoduc™ simultaneously transports clinker to the port at 1,200 t/h on the upper strand and coal to the cement works at 400 t/h on the lower strand.

The system is equipped with 3 × 500 kW drive units and incorporates two horizontal curves, each with a 1,000 m radius.

Sandwich belt conveyor: the vertical solution

Vertical conveying using a standard belt-and-roller arrangement, developed by RBL-REI, uses controlled belt tension to keep the material securely contained between two belts, providing a fully enclosed conveying solution.

With capacities of 800 t/h and beyond, and the ability to handle a wide range of materials and particle sizes — from a few millimetres to several hundred millimetres — the ZZ™ belt conveyor offers an efficient and economical solution where space is limited.

RBL-REI has extensive experience with sandwich belt conveyors, with numerous installations, particularly in tunnelling applications, where vertical material transport and restricted space can make conventional conveying solutions impractical.

In-house calculation and design

RBL-REI controls the complete engineering process, from design and calculation through to installation supervision. This includes all calculations for the conveyor belt and supporting steel structures, using proprietary software developed and continuously refined by RBL-REI over decades of project experience.

This in-house expertise enables RBL-REI to optimise each conveyor system according to its specific operating conditions, while maintaining full control of the technical design.

RBL-REI’s installations can also be equipped with intelligent monitoring systems, providing real-time information on equipment condition and supporting predictive and preventive maintenance to maximise reliability and operational availability.

40 km, 13 horizontal curves…

RBL-REI was commissioned to deliver two 40km lines of conveyor belt in Fengkai (China). These two parallel lines, each at 2,500t/hr, supply one of the world’s largest cement works with 30,000t of cement a day. Each line includes three overland conveyors (11km, 12km and 17km), powered in total by 19 * 750kW driving units, with a belt speed of 5m/s. Curved conveyors (Curvoduc™ or overland) are suitable for crossing and passing over hilly terrain, as well as roads, rivers and paddy fields.
