Oman is set to develop four new industrial cities as part of its 2026–2030 five-year development plan, reinforcing efforts to drive economic diversification, attract investment and promote balanced regional growth.
The projects, spearheaded by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), will be located in Al Suwaiq (North Al Batinah), Al Mudhaibi (North Al Sharqiyah), Thumrait (Dhofar) and Mudhaffar (Musandam), extending industrial development beyond the country’s established economic centres.
The initiative supports the goals of Oman Vision 2040, which aims to strengthen the national economy, encourage sustainable urban development and ensure more balanced growth across all governorates.
According to Khalid bin Sulaiman Al Salehi, General Manager of Marketing and Commercial Affairs and official spokesperson for Madayn, the new industrial cities will enhance Oman’s investment landscape while contributing to long-term economic sustainability.
Supporting investment and regional development
The planned industrial hubs will be equipped with modern infrastructure and integrated logistics services to attract local and international investors and facilitate industrial growth across the four regions.
Madayn said site selection is based on several criteria, including each location’s ability to support regional economic development and leverage the unique strengths of individual governorates.
The developments are also expected to stimulate private-sector investment, create employment opportunities and help build a competitive labour market for Omani talent and skilled professionals.
Sustainability will remain a key focus throughout the projects, with Madayn committed to the efficient use of resources while developing competitive industrial centres that contribute to Oman’s broader economic transformation agenda.
The four new industrial cities form part of the Sultanate’s wider strategy to diversify its economy, strengthen regional economies and advance the industrial objectives outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
