Northam concludes agreement for 80MW Zondereinde solar power plant

Northam Platinum has finalized a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with an Independent Power Producer (IPP) to develop an 80MW solar power plant for its Zondereinde mine in Limpopo.

The solar facility, situated near Thabazimbi, will provide energy directly to the Zondereinde operation, with an expected annual output of 220GWh, independent of the Eskom grid, the company announced on Friday.

Northam highlighted that this initiative will significantly cut its carbon footprint by 22%, deliver considerable cost savings, and reduce the risk of power supply disruptions.
