Swan Introduces AMI-II Fluotrace Oil: A New Standard in Real-Time Oil-in-Water Monitoring

Swan Analytical Instruments announces the launch of the AMI-II Fluotrace Oil, a high-sensitivity Oil-in-Water monitor designed for continuous, real-time detection of hydrocarbons in industrial, marine, environmental, and water treatment applications.

The AMI-II Fluotrace Oil delivers outstanding sensitivity with detection limits as low as 0.15 ppm oil and 5 ppb PAH, while providing a rapid response time of approximately 6 seconds for early leak detection and process protection.

Designed for low-maintenance operation, the analyser requires no reagents and features nano-coated optical windows to reduce fouling and ensure long-term measurement stability, even in challenging environments. Optional autocleaning and verification solutions further simplify maintenance and performance validation.

With flexible installation options including at-line, immersion, and in-line configurations, the IP68-rated Fluotrace sensor is well suited for applications ranging from cooling water and condensate monitoring to ballast water, raw water intake, and environmental discharge control.

Swan Introduces AMI-II Fluotrace Oil: A New Standard in Real-Time Oil-in-Water Monitoring

Hinwil, Switzerland – Swan Analytical Instruments is proud to announce the launch of the AMI-II Fluotrace Oil, a highly sensitive, real-time Oil-in-Water monitor designed to deliver reliable hydrocarbon detection while minimising maintenance requirements. The new analyser provides continuous monitoring of oil and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) across a wide range of industrial, environmental, marine, and water treatment applications.

The AMI-II Fluotrace Oil combines advanced fluorescence technology with a robust, user-friendly design, enabling operators to detect even trace levels of contamination before they impact critical processes, equipment, or the environment. The analyser offers detection limits as low as 0.15 ppm oil and 5 ppb PAH, providing exceptional sensitivity for early warning and process protection.

“With the AMI-II Fluotrace Oil, Swan is delivering a solution that meets the growing need for dependable, low-maintenance hydrocarbon monitoring,” said a spokesperson for Swan Analytical Instruments. “Whether protecting boiler systems, safeguarding drinking water sources, or ensuring compliance in marine applications, users benefit from fast, accurate, and continuous measurement.”

Fast Detection for Critical Applications

The AMI-II Fluotrace Oil delivers a rapid T90 response time of approximately six seconds, making it particularly effective for leak detection and protecting downstream equipment and processes from contamination events. The system measures oil concentrations from 0.000 to 150 ppm, depending on oil type, and PAH concentrations up to 5,000 ppb.

Designed for Reliability and Low Maintenance

Built for long-term operation in demanding environments, the analyser features a nano-coated optical system that helps reduce contamination of measurement windows and improves long-term stability. No reagents are required, reducing operating costs and simplifying maintenance. The AMI-II Fluotrace oil is delivered fully tested, calibrated, and ready for immediate operation.

To further reduce maintenance intervals, the monitor can be equipped with Swan’s Cleaning Module-III P, designed to minimise biofilm, limescale, and dirt buildup. Measurement performance can also be validated easily using an optional verification kit, providing added confidence in compliance and quality assurance programs.

Flexible Installation Options

The Fluotrace sensor supports multiple installation configurations, including at-line, immersion, and in-line applications. Designed to withstand harsh operating environments, the sensor complies with IP68 protection standards, delivering dependable performance in demanding field conditions.

Broad Industry Applications

The AMI-II Fluotrace has been developed to address monitoring challenges across numerous sectors, including:

  • Power and Industrial Facilities: Monitoring cooling water, condensate return, process water, and wastewater discharge streams.
  • Marine Applications: Reliable oil monitoring in ballast and bilge water systems to support compliance with maritime regulations.
  • Desalination and Drinking Water Operations: Early detection of contamination in raw water intake and critical infrastructure monitoring.
  • Environmental Protection: Monitoring stormwater runoff and discharge water to help prevent environmental damage and regulatory violations.

Availability

The Swan Monitor AMI-II Fluotrace Oil is available with multiple installation accessories and sensor cable lengths of 1 m, 5 m, and 15 m, allowing users to tailor the system to their specific application requirements.
