Hexagon and Ma’aden Deepen Partnership to Advance Mining Education and Workforce Development in the Middle East

Hexagon and Ma’aden are expanding their strategic partnership to advance mining education and workforce development across the Middle East, with new initiatives to be unveiled at next week’s Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh.

Building on their collaboration to develop the region’s first digital mine at Mansourah-Massarah, the two organisations will sign a memorandum of understanding aimed at preparing the next generation of mining professionals.

Central to the agreement is a partnership with King Abdulaziz University, supported by national leadership, to modernise mining curricula, embed advanced digital technologies and create clearer pathways into modern mining careers. The programme will give students access to industry-leading tools, hands-on training and enhanced professional development opportunities.

The initiative coincides with the launch of the first cohort of female mining students at the university, marking a significant milestone for Saudi Arabia’s mining sector and reflecting the Kingdom’s push to broaden participation and build future talent.

Hexagon is also strengthening ties with King Saud University and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals through software licensing, training programmes for students and faculty, and internship opportunities for high-performing students at its new Riyadh office.

At the Future Minerals Forum, Hexagon will showcase its integrated solutions for planning, safety, automation and operational intelligence, while Mining division President Dave Goddard will join global experts to discuss how technology and talent development are reshaping the mining value chain.

“The mine of the future will only succeed if we invest in the miners of the future,” Goddard said. “This partnership with Ma’aden goes beyond technology. It is about developing the skills, leadership and opportunities needed to support sustainable, long-term growth in the mining sector.”
