Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2026 will open next week in the UAE capital.
Hosted by Masdar, ADSW 2026 will convene heads of state, ministers, senior government officials, business leaders, investors and innovators to tackle global sustainability challenges and map pathways for future progress.
Speaking at a press briefing, Masdar Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi said ADSW has evolved into the world’s largest sustainability platform, with the 2026 edition set to be its most ambitious to date. He stressed the need to realign existing systems with future demands as countries grapple with climate, energy and development pressures.
He noted that the theme, “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” reflects the urgency and opportunity to drive global systemic change, with energy transformation central to the agenda. Al Ramahi added that Masdar will mark 20 years of renewable energy leadership at the event, underscoring the importance of partnerships in delivering meaningful impact.
ADSW 2026 aims to raise the bar for collaboration and measurable outcomes, bringing together stakeholders across energy, finance, food, water and nature to explore how interconnected systems can scale and reinforce one another.
The press conference also featured senior figures including IRENA Director-General Francesco La Camera, who highlighted the coming decade as pivotal for the energy transition and noted projections that electricity will become the dominant energy carrier by 2050. He described ADSW as a key global platform for advancing sustainable energy solutions, with IRENA set to launch its General Assembly during the week.
Other speakers emphasized the importance of smart infrastructure, artificial intelligence and coordinated action across the Global South, reinforcing ADSW 2026’s focus on translating ambition into implementation through innovation, investment and partnership.
