Caterpillar Inc. has introduced the new Cat D8 dozer with advanced technology designed for faster and more accurate results. The elevated sprocket provides better ride and balance compared to low-drive undercarriages, while the long undercarriage ensures high penetration forces and superior dozing performance. The new Cat C15 engine offers increased horsepower to handle dozing, ripping, and grading tasks.
The redesigned cab offers more space, with improved visibility by 17% and a 254-mm (10-inch) touchscreen display that provides key features and machine status. The cab can be removed in approximately 30 minutes for servicing. The HVAC system helps reduce window fogging and frosting.
The D8 dozer includes several Assist technologies to improve productivity, reduce fatigue, and deliver faster, more precise results. Features include:
- Stable Blade: For smoother surfaces.
- Traction Control: Reduces track slip, saving time, fuel, and track wear.
- Steer Assist: Automates track and blade tilt steering.
- Blade Load Monitor: Provides real-time load feedback based on ground conditions.
- AutoRip: Automates ripper positioning.
- AutoCarry™: Maintains consistent load and reduces track slip.
The D8 is also equipped with Cat Command for Dozing, enabling remote control in hazardous environments. It offers a plug-and-play, roof-mounted unit for easy installation and can be operated up to 400 meters away.
Enhanced connectivity features include Remote Troubleshoot for remote diagnostic testing and Remote Flash for software updates. Customizable dashboards provide critical machine information such as location, fuel usage, and CO2 emissions. The machine also uses VisionLink for fleet management.
The Cat D8 Waste Handler model is specifically built for landfill environments with impact-resistant guarding and a high-debris cooling system.
The new Cat D8 dozer offers enhanced performance, improved technology, and greater flexibility for a variety of applications.
