Martin Engineering Expands West African Partnerships

The global leader in belt conveyor and bulk material flow technology, Martin Engineering, has broadened its footprint in the West African nation of Ghana by partnering with Aggrey & Associates, one of the country’s most trusted mining and industrial operations consultants.  With offices in the UK and Ghana, Aggrey & Associates has a track record of success across a wide spectrum of bulk handling industries.  As a Martin® distributor, the firm will offer its world-class consultation supported by Martin’s innovative products, exceptional service, and industry-leading training.  Customers in Ghana will benefit from successful installations with ongoing support while securing a reliable logistical network for parts and service.

“We first met Aggrey & Associates at The Mining Show in Dubai, where we discovered a shared vision for bulk handling solutions and exceptional customer support,” said Fran van der Berg, General Manager of Martin Engineering Africa.  “After spending the time to get to know each other’s businesses, values, and where we aligned, the collaboration was formalized at WAMPEX 2026 (West African Mining & Power Exhibition).”

Product and Service Support

Under the new agreement, Aggrey & Associates will provide local customer engagement, technical support, and market development, while Martin Engineering Africa will continue to provide engineering expertise, product support, training, and specialist resources.

Aggrey and Martin representatives work together on a project at a mining site in Ghana.

The Aggrey & Associates technical team are already undergoing comprehensive product and application training with Martin Engineering in South Africa to ensure customers receive the highest level of service and support.  In addition, Martin Engineering’s West Africa Support Technician will remain available to provide specialist assistance and site support when required.

Innovative Solutions for West African Industries

Many of the bulk handling and material flow issues West African industries experience – such as conveyor dust, spillage, or silo/hopper blockages – are universal.  However, each operation has its unique challenges that require expert engineering solutions.  For example, some consultants might focus on just the dust, but a seasoned technician diagnoses the causes of the dust and addresses the problem at the source with retrofitted, lasting solutions, while keeping ongoing maintenance access and safety top of mind.

Some innovative Martin conveyor and material flow products include:

The Martin® Transfer Point Kit, which is a prefabricated loading zone, settling zone, and stilling zone that provides a wide variety of chute options with room for future upgrades.  The kit simplifies installation and allows some pre-assembly to reduce labor and downtime.

A Martin® Transfer Point Kit with belt support and proper sealing and dust containment in an underground mine.

Martin® Impact Cradles and Support Cradles offer low-friction belt support and superior surface protection.  Built on a rugged steel frame with energy-absorbing urethane bumpers, the unique design provides an even belt plane for superior sealing compared to idlers with gaps from belt sag.

Specialized dust and spillage solutions like the ApronSeal™ Urethane Skirting and the GravitySeal™ Self-Adjusting Urethane Skirting seal the belt.  A.I.R. Control™ Dust Curtains slow airflow within the enclosure so dust can settle back into the stream. Together, these provide highly effective passive dust control.

To avoid safety issues and costly downtime from material blockages, Martin® Air Cannons provide an effective and safe automated flow solution for transfer chutes, hoppers, silos, and preheater towers.  Powered by the compressed air system and fired from a central solenoid box or integrated into logistical software, air cannons release a powerful shot that dislodges buildup and promotes constant flow for increased uptime with minimal labor.

Air cannons placed at the correct angle on a transfer chute mitigate clogging and promote proper material flow.

“By combining Martin Engineering’s global experience with Aggrey & Associates’ local knowledge and relationships, the partnership is well positioned to deliver lasting value to customers throughout Ghana,” van der Berg concluded.
