Kita Machinery Industry promotes a carbon-free future by renting electric machines nationwide

Kita Machinery Industry has taken a bold step toward transforming Japan’s construction sector by renting electric excavators to customers nationwide. The company is supporting efficient and sustainable construction sites with the ECR25 Electric, which is clean, quiet, and considerate to the natural environment

Kita Machinery Industry Co., Ltd., a leading company in the rental, service, and sales of heavy machinery, has taken an important step toward a carbon-neutral future by introducing Volvo CE’s ECR25 Electric compact excavator to its rental fleet. This initiative will significantly reduce the environmental impact of construction sites and will serve as an innovative case study for other sustainable job sites in Japan’s construction industry.

To promote the adoption of electric construction equipment, Kita Machinery Industry is rolling out the ECR25 Electric through rental operations across Japan. In collaboration with its Volvo dealer, G.TRES Corporation, the company aims to establish rental and on-site support services tailored to each region, making electric construction equipment more accessible and familiar to construction companies and local governments.

Mr. Kita, President of Kita Machinery Industry, comments:

“By having the option of renting rather than purchasing, you can not only reduce the initial cost, but also the anxiety about maintenance. This will make it easy to try out electric excavators and help to promote adoption for the entire industry.”

Volvo CE’s ECR25 Electric accelerates decarbonisation

The ECR25 Electric is Volvo CE’s flagship excavator. Designed to support more sustainable work without sacrificing performance, this compact excavator offers significant environmental and operational benefits with performing on par with diesel engines. It is powered by a powerful electric motor, and the battery provides up to 4 hours of continuous operation on a full charge. This is enough uptime for general daily tasks. The charging method is also simple and flexible, with a fast charging option that can charge the battery to 80% in less than 1 hour, in addition to standard overnight charging.

Key features of the ECR25 Electric include:

  • Zero emissions – Supports cleaner air and reduces the machine’s environmental footprint, making it ideal for urban and environmentally sensitive projects.
  • Near-silent operation – Ideal for nighttime, indoor, or noise-restricted job sites.
  • Reduced maintenance and operating costs – Fewer moving parts and no fuel required, reducing service requirements and operating expenses.
  • Increased operator comfort – Less vibration, heat, and noise for improved workability.

A vision for the future of construction equipment

As one of the first companies in Japan to adopt Volvo CE’s ECR25 Electric excavators, Kita Machinery Industry has established itself as a leader in environmental innovation. The company aims to offer a wide range of rental options that contribute to reducing the industry’s carbon footprint by introducing additional Volvo CE electric machines in the future.

Shoji Isamu, Head of Market Japan, Volvo CE, adds:

“In Japan, the demand for cleaner construction solutions is growing due to increasing urbanisation, tightening environmental regulations, and the need to address climate change issues. This is a clear example of how forward-thinking companies can play a leading role in shaping a more sustainable and efficient industry.”
